| Description |
English: Plank Lane swing bridge. Yes this title is correct. It is still know as Plank Lane swing bridge, even though it is now a lift (or bascule) bridge. The bridge is being lowered after we have passed underneath. There is a bridge keeper on duty here from 0800 to 2000 in the summer. Because of the high volume of road traffic (controlled by railway-level-crossing-type barriers) it cannot be operated by the boater. Compare this picture of the bridge in its closed position 52643 |
