| Description |
English: Platform 1 at Ashurst (New Forest) station. The station was originally known as "Lyndhurst Road" station, the most convenient stop for Lyndhurst on the London-Weymouth line. The first station on the site was built in 1847 to accommodate the gentry that stayed in Lyndhurst or at other country houses in the Forest. The name "Ashurst" was only coined in the early 20th century in relation to the growing settlement along the A35 road. The (New Forest) tag distinguishes it from Ashurst in Kent. |
