| Description | across from Eastern Market, loudly sneering: "hey, look, I'm using modern techniques to subvert the structural 'reasons' behind all this tarted-up classical ornament, so FU, pompous and officious DC." the I-beams (to make it look like the arches hover over the columns) are too heavy-handed a visual joke for my taste. The paper-doll "capitals", recessed curtain wall, and daringly half-removed precast keystones, I can nearly deal with, but it all begs the question: why bother? No one else thinks these kinds of jokes are funny. |
