| Description |
This image from the Gordii Dorsum region of Mars shows a large area covered with polygonal ridges in an almost geometric pattern. The ridges may have originally been dunes which hardened (indurated) through the action of an unknown process. Groundwater might have been involved. Image cutout is less than 5 km (3 mi) top to bottom across and the spacecraft altitude was 278 km (173 mi). For full observation details including images with scale bars, visit the source link.
