Description |
English: A grainy photo shows a large tree on the edge of a tree line, beside a winding dirt lane and wooden fence. The tulip poplar tree was the site of preservation activity on the Appomattox Court House Landscape in the 1930s. According to tradition, this was the tree under which General Lee gave his farewell address to the Army of Northern Virginia. It is now known that that legend is not historically correct.
