Description |
Portrait photogravure of English surgeon and Baron Joseph Lister (1827-1912) based on a circa 1855 daguerreotype photograph when Lister was around age 28. Influenced by Louis Pasteur's (1822-1895) discoveries in microbiology, Lister became a pioneer of antiseptic surgery by using carbolic acid as an antiseptic. |
