Portrait of William Western Hugessen (1736-64)

William Western Hugessen was the son of William Hugessen (1691-1753) and his wife Dorothy Tyssen (1701-49) whom he married on 31st October 1734. He lived at Provender House in Norton, a medieval house built in 1342 for Lucas of Vienne, which his ancestor James Hugessen had bought in 1633. William married Thomazine Honywood, daughter of Sir John Honywood, Bt. of Evington, M.P. for Canterbury and member of an old Kent family. His eldest daughter Dorothy married Sir Joseph Banks. As she died without issue, the Provender estate passed to the issue of William Hugessen's other daughter Mary and her husband Sir Edward Knatchbull, 8th Bt. (d. 1819)
