Summary[edit]

Description
English: Made of Pentelic Marble, this portrait probably represents the Poet Posidippus of Cassandreia born approximately in 316 BC in Cassandreia in Macedonia. Residing in Athens, he became famous there as an author of comedies. Only a few fragments of his plays have survived, but twenty two epigrams of Posidippus have been collected in the Palatine Anthology.
