| Description |
English: Near site of former Lewes Road station, Kemp Town branch. This is a very difficult view to determine and describe - and once again I am much indebted to Stephen Wilks for his help. It seems that Lewes Road station had been about 100 yards to my right and my view was NNW to Hollingdean Road. I was standing at the NE end of Richmond Road, right by the service road into the Sainsbury's, off Hughes Road, where the Lewes Road Goods Yard had been in the past. The station was on the former Kemp Town branch, a very short branch which came off the ex-LB&SCR Brighton - Lewes line just east of London Road station. The branch and its stations were closed to passengers on 2/1/33, but remained open for goods until 14/6/71. |
