This is the title-page of the second edition of Justus Lipsius' book on the life and works of the Stoic philosopher Lucius Annaeus Seneca. It was firstly published in Antwerp by Plantin-Moretus in 1605. Rubens corrected the bust showing Seneca himself in the second edition. For another impression of this plate (before retouchings) see also 1857,0314.12. For the title-page of the fourth edition (1652) see 1872,1012.5440.
