| Description |
English: Queen Anne Royal Arms. Very rare Queen Anne Royal Arms above the chancel arch in St.Margaret's church 1317442 its rarity partly due to her short reign (1702-1714) and the irreverence towards the Church of England in the early 18th century.
The restoration by Madeleine Katkov in 1979 revealed an earlier Medieval Doom painting underneath and traces can be seen interposed with the arms, an angel pitchforks damned souls into hell on the right, whilst another watches over the riteous on their journey to salvation on the left. |
