Summary[edit]

Description Two U.S. Navy green-shirted bar runners guide the arresting cable as it is retracted after a McDonnell Douglas RF-4B Phantom II of Marine tactical reconaissance squadron VMFP-3 Eyes of the Corps has landed on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CV-41), 5 September 1983. VMFP-3 maintained a six-plane detachment as part of Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5) aboard the Midway from 1974 to 1984. Note that the RF-4B wears the CVW-5 tail code “NF”, whereas VMPF-3 mostly kept its own tail code “RF” on the Midway.
