| Description | The British Royal Fleet Auxiliary RFA Tidesurge (A98) refuels the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (CVA-59) on 25 August 1967 in heavy seas between Madagascar and the Cape of Good Hope. Forrestal, with assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17), was deployed to Vietnam from 6 June to 14 September 1967. Forrestal had experienced a devastating fire on 29 July. After temporary repairs at Subic Bay, Philippines, she was on her way to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Virginia (USA). |
