Beschreibung nach Museumstafel: Das Römisch-Germanische Museum ist über einem großen römischen Wohnhaus des 3. Jahrhunderts n. Chr. errichtet. Seinen Fest- und Speisesaal (oecus), der an der Westseite des Gartenhofes (Peristyl) des Hauses lag, schmückte dieser Mosaikboden. Er liegt an der Stelle, an der er im Jahre 1941 ausgegraben wurde. Das 10,57 m x 7,00 m oder 30 x 20 römische Fuß große Mosaik besteht aus etwa 1 - 2 Millionen Steinchen. [...] Im Bildmittel stützt sich der junge bekränzte Gott auf einen Satyr. Weitere Satyrn aus seinem Gefolge tanzen und musizieren mit ihren weiblichen Begleiterinnen in den Achteckfeldern um das Mittelfeld. [...]
