Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Ravensworth Castle ruins, near to Ravensworth, North Yorkshire, Great Britain. Only used for a short time between being built in the fourteenth century and abandoned in the fifteenth, the castle has provided sandstone for the building of the modern village of Ravensworth, resulting in very little of its outer walls being left. Seen from the road to Richmond, only the tower is really evident, but from the minor road to Gayles and Kirby Hill, the other remaining fragments are more prominent and show that the castle was quite extensive, with the most visible tower at the northern corner of a raised area 150m (SW-NE) x 80m (NW-SE) and surrounded on the west, south and east by low lying boggy land.
