Summary[edit]

Description

The male grebe (dark beak in this pair) has just delivered a fish. Shortly after this photo was taken there was a shift change and the female brought in several fish notwithstanding the fish hook in her neck. There are still two unhatched eggs. I heard a report that one egg was lost to a gull.

I have marked this and my previous upload of the fish hook as "Public Domain Work" so that these photos may be freely used to educate people to the consequences of careless fishing.

Sunday June 7 update: Toronto Wildlife Centre captured the female and were able to remove the hook without transporting her. Photos now posted.
