Summary[edit]

Description
English: Red Kite Red kites have been successfully reintroduced to this area - the nearby kite feeding station at Ballymach is worth a visit - where up to 60 birds can gather to feed. These birds were persecuted for a while - along with buzzards. Red Kites feed mainly on carrion and insects. Each year some are found dead - mainly poisoned - pesticides can be to blame along with poisoned meat left out for other vermin - but generally their numbers are on the increase.
