Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Refracted waves at Porth Nefyn Out at sea each part of a wave has the same amount of energy. As the wave approaches the shore, the segment of the wave reaching the headland encounters the sea floor first, and hence is checked sooner than those segments continuing on into the bay. As a result differences of velocity occur within the wave causing it to bend. Erosion is concentrated at the headland while in the bent wave energy is dispersed along the whole of the beach front.
