Summary[edit]

Description
English: Restoration works during the month of December of the year 2005 of the altarpiece of Santos Justo and Pastor, carried out in the Rock Church of Olleros de Pisuerga (Palencia, Spain) under the aforementioned Saints avocation.

This restoration project is framed within the intervention Romanesque North Plan. The geographical space covering the intervention plan focuses on the northeastern part of the province of Palencia and North-West part of the province of Burgos, in the meeting of the southern slopes of the Cantabrian mountains with the Great Plains of la Meseta Castellana. Olleros Pisuerga Rock Church is located in the old merindad of Aguilar de Campoo. Extensive territory of more than 1700 square kilometres, eventually constituted an administrative unit with Centre in the palentinian villa of Aguilar de Campoo, however political changes in history have caused that currently such territory is halfway between the community of Cantabria and the provinces of Palencia and Burgos (Castilla-León).

The altarpiece, in plateresque style (16th century) combines harmoniously decorative items painted the temple with areas decorated with fine gold metal sheeting. The work was carved in wood and subsequently polychrome and golden. Different spaces of the altarpiece has developed an iconography formed by the Apócrifos Gospels and New Testament Saints figures.
