| Description |
English: River Wey near Send Grove (2) Viewed from the footbridge taking the footpath from Send Grove to Sutton Green over the river, Wareham's Bridge on the River Wey Navigation is just visible in the middle of the distant dark trees. The line of the centre of the river here historically represented the parish boundary between Send Civil Parish and the parish to the west. However the meandering course of the river has been straightened and the parish boundary now follows a line over the meadows with nothing to demarcate it. A glance at the old Ordnance Survey 1:10,560 scale maps (6" to the mile) shows the meanders on the 1920 Edition and the straightening out in the 1934 Edition. In the 1920 Edition only the text 'Liable to Floods' is wrote large across this area. |
