English: Roundabout at Old Turn Junction, Birmingham. This island is where the Birmingham Main Line, and Birmingham and Fazeley canals meet. The circular island was installed during World War II, to facilitate the use of temporary dams to protect the railway tunnel beneath it, if the canal were be breached by bombing. The fingerpost at the junction was added on May 21, 1983 by the BCN Society. http://www.bcn-society.co.uk/ |
