| Description |
English: Roundabout at the entrance to the Universities at Medway Pembroke Road leads into the shared campus, which is on a site of considerable historical significance. At the beginning of the 20th century HMS Pembroke Royal Naval Barracks were built on the terraced site and by the Second World War it accommodated up to 23,000 men. The upper and lower parts of the site are located either side of the retaining wall and the Central Avenue leads to a gunnery school. See http://www.medway.ac.uk/ for more details on the campus.
Dock Road leads right towards Chatham. Maritime Way leads left toward the A289 Dual Carriageway. Seen from Western Avenue (leading to Historic Dockyard, Dickens World, Dockside Outlet Centre and Chatham Marina). |
