Summary[edit]
DescriptionRowe type milepost in Cardiff Bay - geograph.org.uk - 622726.jpg |
English: Rowe type milepost in Cardiff Bay Commonly known as the Rowe type milepost, found along the national Sustrans cycle network across the UK, this shape was originally meant to be known as the Welsh mile post, designed by the Welsh artist Andrew Rowe.
This is the only post that's capable of showing more than two directions - though in this case its unusual use seems to only celebrate the cycle network in Welsh (out of shot) and English. Good location next to bikes though... Another oddity about this particular post - it has no additional decoration nor does it have a sponsor. Further, it doesn't sport the usual disc provided for making creyon rubbings, a part of the Sustrans mile post website initiative (you can see the hole through which this disc would normally be bolted). In the background the silhouette of the old Pierhead Building can be seen along with the modern fountain and decorative posts of the Roald Dahl Plass. |
