Summary[edit]

Description

I love the plant that you get in large buildings. Just like model villages, the sense of incongruous scale is oddly captivating. A lot of the stuff is just like the hardware you see at home, but much, much bigger. Many householders will be familiar with red Grundfos central heating pumps, but not ones the size of dustbins. The boilers vary between wardrobe sized and garden shed sized. The fuse boards fill entire walls. All good fun.

There weren't many people in school at all today as the water was off. The reason was that this stopcock was scheduled for replacement. It looks like it must have been in place since the building was first built, and over the years some layers of grime have built up inside the pipe. The amazing thing is the size of this valve - it's huge! For scale, the black thing sticking out the back is the shaft of a hammer.

It's replaced now, and all is well. :)
