Description
English: Alexei Rykov, Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars (Prime Minister) greets Felix Dzerzhinsky, Director of the OGPU. Context: From the early days of USSR, the State security agency (first called Cheka, then GPU/OGPU) became the important factor in conducting the government policies specifically directed to extinguish the resistance of class enemies/enemies of the people. Started as a temporary agency, GPU (later called NKVD and KGB) became monstrous organization operating the network of labor camps (GULAG), conducting prosecutions of entire ethnic and social groups and mass re-settlements. Alexei Rykov became “the enemy of the people”, had been executed in 1938, following the show court case known as Trial of Twenty One.

Контекст: з ранніх часів Органи державної безпеки СРСР (спочатку ЧК, потім ГПУ/ОГПУ) стали важливим фактором у проведенні державної політики, спрямованої на ліквідацію класових ворогів так званих «ворогів народу». Спочатку тимчасове державне агентство ЧК (ГПУ/ОГПУ, пізніше НКВД та КДБ) перетворилося на жахливу організацію, що оперувало мережею концентраційних таборів (ГУЛАГ), здійснювало переслідування етнічних та соціальних груп радянських громадян, переселення народів та масові страти. Олексій Риков був страчений у 1938 році, після судової справи, відомої під назвою "Процес двадцяти одного (Правотроцькістський Антирадянський Блок)".
