Summary
[edit]DescriptionS-IVB ignition from Apollo 9.jpg |
English: About 300 meters from the S-IVB stage, the Apollo 9 crew captured this image. After the 62 second burn, the stage ended up with an apogee of 3190km before completing the third burn of the mission which would send it on an escape trajectory.
James McDivitt: It's just like a bright star disappearing into the distance. Rusty Schweickart: You could see a lot of stuff coming out when he just started up, but then it just went into a nice bright light. Stuart Roosa: Beautiful! Image was cropped and zoomed in.
