Description People who misuse or abuse prescription drugs risk liver damage, addiction, and even death. Dale Slavin, Ph.D., associate director of FDA’s Safe Use Initiative, spoke to the Herndon, Va., Police Crime Prevention Council and the public on April 7, 2011 about strategies to address this public health problem. Dr. Slavin (left) is shown shaking hands with Sergeant James Moore of the Herndon Police Department.
