English: A huge Ceratosauroid theropod from the Early Jurassic of Italy. "Discovered on 1996 by Dal sasso et at. Saltriovenator was classified on several Theropod families, from Coelophysoidea ( Roger B. J. Benson, 2010, S. 131–146) to Allosauriade, looking more to be an species related to Sinosaurus triassicus or Cryolophosaurus, thus a basal tetanuran.Finally, on 2018, was named Satriovenator zanellai and classified as a ceratosaur. Saltriovenator can be on the biggest predators found on Europe, with an holtype of around 7,8-8 m (Disputed), considering an adult about a maximum of 8,5 m with an 75-80 cm head. It is the earliest theropod with confirmed only three digits on the hands.This restoration shows the environment of the Saltrio formation (Lombardy, Italy) at the late Sinemurian (191 Ma). Saltrio formation is believed to be an ancient beach, due to the presence of nautiloids and Brachiopods. Includes the gigantic predator wandering while two Crocodrylomorhps (aff. Species indeterminate) roaming the scene looking for washing death Nautiloids of the genus Cenoceras ( C. F. Parona. 1897. I Nautili del Lias inferiore di Saltrio in Lombardia. Bullettino della Società Malacologica Italiana 20,7-20 ). The flora is partially inspired on the finds of the Rotzo Formation and the Osteno". The Absence of skull ornamentation is due to the non find of a complete skull, is based on Ceratosaurus nasicornis Skull. |
