| Description |
English: According to the legend, Child was born to Hemavati and Chandrama-the moon god named Chandravarman. He grew so robust, bold and valiant hero that at the age of sixteen he had enough strength to kill a lion and a tiger without any difficulty.
As prophesied by the Moon-God, Chandravarman became mighty ruler of Mahoba and soon became emperor of the time who finally moved to Khajuraho with his queen and built as many as 85 Temples out of which only 22-25 were preserved till date on the wish of his mother. Thus the emblem of Chandellas became a young man grappling with a Lion, a scene on which there is several sculptures at Khajuraho In due course, Chandratreya, the begetter of Chandellas was born. Maniyadeva, whose shrines still exists at Maniyagadh, 19 Kms south of Khajuraho and Mahoba, came to be worshipped as the family deity of the Chandellas. |

This Photgraphy work was captured at Khajuraho Western Group of Temples. Khajuraho after Taj, is the most frequently visited monument in India. Khajuraho is an unique example of Indo-Aryan architecture. It is well known all over the world for its temple architecture and exquisite sculpture.
The temples were built between the 9th and 11th centuries by the Warrior Kings of the Chandela dynasty. It is believed that 85 temples were built out of its 25 still remain in varying degrees of preservation.
