SCHRIJFMACHINE

Een schrijfmachine of typemachine is een mechanisch apparaat, voorzien van druk- toetsen waarmee schrijftekens op papier gezet kunnen worden. Voor de uitvinding van de schrijfmachine werden brieven en ook officiële documenten met de hand geschreven, vaak door klerken. Sinds de opkomst van de computer, en vooral van de tekstverwerker, is de schrijfmachine vrijwel volledig in onbruik geraakt.
