Summary[edit]
| Description |
English: Shore House, Hale Bank A hundred and fifty years ago the elegant Shore House at Hale Bank stood amongst woodland and meadows but was gradually surrounded by industrial activity, its views across the salt marsh and the Mersey spoiled by the tipping of industrial, construction and household waste immediately in front of its grounds. The tip was closed in 1972 and eventually, in the '80s, the area was reclaimed from its use as a landfill site and Pickerings Pasture was created, in 1992 winning local nature reserve status after it created wildflower meadows, woodland belts and wildlife habitats. Shore House once again has its view. |
