English: A view of Black Five 45212 heading towards Burrs Country Park with the Peel Tower on Holcombe Moor in the background.
As 45212 was rostered and it was, unusually for the ELR, smokebox pointing south I decided to pass a grey drizzly day on the trains. Having worked out where to be and when and having bought my ticket the news came through that due to operational problems it would be diesel first up the line and then steam rather than the timetabled steam then diesel. So plans out of the window and then my on the hoof plans were complicated by the Black Five losing thirty minutes somewhere beyond Ramsbottom on its first trip and not gaining them back during the day. |
