Links een engel met cartouche waarop het beginvers van Psalm 41. Rechts Johannes de Doper, patroon van de bisschop. Boven twee engelen met spreukband Comite Cand[ore]. English: Bruges, Cathedral (Sint-Salvatorskathedraal). Interior. Funeral monument (1758) of bishop Jean-Baptiste de Castillion by H Pulinx (1691-1781). White marble. On the left an angel is holding a cartouche with the first verse of Psalm 41: "Beatus qui intelligit super egenum" ("Blessed is the person who shows understanding towards the needy and the poor"). On the right John the Baptist, patron saint of the bishop. |
