| Description |
Even the Sintra train station was adorned with the wonderful tile work we saw in so many places in Portugal. At almost half past seven it was too late to buy a ticket from the window, so we used a machine and it was a good thing, too. We did get checked on the train.......public transport is largely on the honor system in the Lisbon area, but one gets the feeling that very steep fines might go along with the spot checking they do. Those speakers of English only, might want to take note that when traveling to countries where "everyone speaks English" this really does not usually apply to the sellers of bus and train tickets, but it is quite easy to get what you need if you know the name of the place you are going and can hold up a number of fingers matching the number of people you are traveling with. |
