| Description | Part of power plant near top of falls. Some of the water is diverted, through pen stocks, to turbines at base of cliff. Notice the lush vegetation on west side of Cascades; a different scene than the dry hillsides around Vantage. They lie in a rain shadow created by the Cascade Mountains. Noticing contrasts of landscape is one of the great joys of bike touring. A joy that is experienced when one takes their time. |
