Sony Duad (type III) cassette, Japanese market, 1973-1977 model

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Sony Duad was a Japanese-market trademark for Type III (ferrichrome) cassettes, known elsewhere as Sony Ferri Chrome or Sony FeCr. This is a used Duad of the first, 1973-1977 generation. The surface of the tape is visibly pitted, with myriads of tiny dark spots that, I suppose, signs of top layer wear - but there's no evidence of sticky-shed, delamination or other deadly effects. It carries a recording of Tokyo FM broadcast dated 27-04-1978, sort of a time capsule from another world. The recording, presumably made with Dolby B, sounds perfect. Very well balanced, with natural undistorted highs and proper bass foundation - as good as FM recordings could be.
