| Description |
English: Spiller's Mill after the fire, from Hills Road railway bridge. The former flour mill was set to become a cultural centre as part of the CB1 development west of Cambridge Station, but was partially destroyed by fire early on 27 March 2010. It may now have to be demolished. Arson has not been ruled out. For a similar view thirty years ago, see 1628842. The south end of the railway station is on the right, with the bay platforms originally used by GNR trains to Kings Cross and LNWR trains to Bedford and Oxford. Behind the concrete wall on the left some desultory progress is being made on the long-delayed and vastly over-budget guided bus project; Cambridge folk have yet to be convinced of its viability. |
