Summary[edit]

Description
English: St Helena Island The area of dunes on the far side of the Luce estuary is called St Helena Island. Although not actually an island, it is almost cut off at the very highest spring tides. It may have been given its name by Admiral Dalrymple Hay in the 19th century, following a visit to St Helena in the South Atlantic - supposedly he took cuttings from a tree growing on Napoleon's grave and planted them here.
