Description
Nederlands: Stadsreuzen "koven" Lokeren

Koven en Wanne zijn de oudst stadsreuzen. Ze worden 'geboren" in 1932 en gaan voor het laatst uit in 1950. De reus Koven verpersoonlijkt net als de Kovens op de Heirbrugse gevels, de succesvolle bleker Jacobus Van Kerckhove.

Martje en Butje zijn de reuzen uit de Brugstraat. In 1946 worden ze door het feestcomité van de Moederkenskermis besteld bij de beeldhouwer van Koven en Wanne. De Moederkenskermis komt er naar aanleiding van de oprichting van de stedelijke kraamkliniek in 1933. Martje draagt een verpleegstersuniform, Butje een net pak en een hoge hoed.
