Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Staithes cabbage (Brassica oleracea), Cowbar Nab Staithes is a stronghold of wild cabbage, a plant probably introduced in the British Isles but thriving in several maritime populations around the coast. Here it is prolific on the headland, clinging to the cliffs and around the village. It probably originated in the Mediterranean and is the progenitor of the cultivated cabbage and all its mutant derivatives: Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale and kohl rabi http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2001/aug/16/ruralaffairs.countrydiary
