| Description |
English: Not feeling very satisfied after a rather ordinary phở (Julia's) and cao lầu (mine), we wandered around looking for dessert, inadvertently stumbling onto this busy little stall. You can tell it was busy by the amount of used tissues and other litter around the tiny tables!
It seemed that everyone was having Mì Quảng here, which is what I was after! After observing how much the locals paid, I asked the price of a bowl of Mì Quảng. It was VND20000, which seemed like the going rate, so as soon as a spot freed up, we sat down and ordered a bowl of Mì Quảng. Slightly taken aback by the bright orange globe, I eventually discover that it is a quail egg, stewed in spices. That same garlicky stew was also ladled over the turmeric-laced rice noodles and topped with sliced pork, chả sausage, shrimp and some prawn crackers. A squeeze of lime gave this nice bowl of noodles a nice lift. As I finish, the lady asks if I would like a bowl of Cao lầu as well. I smile, shake my head, and hand her a VND20000 note and walk off satisfied. Later, we stop by some ladies clothes shop on the way home, dessert for Julia :) |
