English: Former lime kiln in Recke-Steinbeck, Kreis Steinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a listed cultural heritage monument.
Deutsch: Kalkofen in Recke-Steinbeck, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Der bestehende Ofen wurde 1933/1934 errichtet, die Kalkbrennerei jedoch 1963/1964 aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen eingestellt. Das Gelände des Kalkofens liegt im hängigen Bereich, nach Norden hin abfallend. Die Kalkofengegenstützmauer wurde in den Hang gebaut. Drei Abzugsöffnungen liegen im unteren Bereich. Der Kalkofen selber wird durch eine Betonplatte abgeschlossen. Die aufgesetzte Tülle aus Kalksandstein ist zum Wegeplateau am Hang hin zur Beschickung des Ofens geöffnet. Östlich des Kalkofens liegen das in Kalksandstein errichtete Maschinengebäude zur Aufnahme eines Brecherwerkes, nachgeschaltete Hammermühle und Silo. Die gesamte Technik wurde elektrifiziert. Das technische Denkmal steht seit 1993 komplett unter Denkmalschutz. Durch verschiedene Initiativen wurde das Gebäudeensemble 1993/1994 so überarbeitet, dass seine Erscheinung dem ursprünglichen Aussehen recht nahe kam. Eingestürzte Gebäudeteile wurden wieder aufgerichtet, defekte Türen, Fenster und Klappen teilweise repariert oder ersetzt. Das Dach wurde mit alten Dachziegeln, die von der alten Steinbecker Schule gerettet wurden, neu eingedeckt.
