Summary[edit]

Description
English: Stinking hellebore (Helleborus foetidus). Flowering from February to April, the stinking hellebore, (also known as dungwort or bear’s foot) gets its name from the unpleasant odour it emits, which is more noticeable if you squeeze the glossy, serrated leaves. The plant produces the smell to attract insect pollinators. The drooping cup-shaped flowers are lime green, often with a purple edge to the five petal-like sepals on strongly upright stems. All parts of the plant, a member of the buttercup family, are poisonous. See also 1722482
