Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Storing railway stock, Groombridge. The spur between Tunbridge Wells and Eridge survived Beeching but was closed by British Rail in 1985. The track was saved and opened as the Spa Valley Line which currently terminates at Groombridge behind the photographer. However, the track to Birchden junction where it joins the London-Uckfield line is still intact and the long term plans are to run the railway onto Eridge linking with the network lines. The picture is taken on a footbridge just above the old Groombridge junction, the track to the right once heading for East Grinstead but now terminating a few hundred yards down the line.
