English: Subrata Ghosh received his B.Sc. with Honors in Chemistry and M.Sc. with specialization in Organic Chemistry from University of Calcutta. In 1974 he joined the Department of Organic Chemistry, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Calcutta for doctoral research under the supervision of Professor U.R. Ghatak. Based on his work on synthetic studies in gibberellins using the chemistry of a-diazocarbonyl compound he was awarded with Ph.D. degree of Calcutta University in 1978. He did his post-doctoral research with Professor R.G. Salomon of Case Western Reserve University, USA, during the years 1979-1981 and 1984-1986 on photocycloaddition reaction and synthesis of levugladins. In 1982, he joined the faculty of organic chemistry at IACS as Lecturer, where he is presently Professor of Organic Chemistry. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Leicester, England from October-December, 1997. |
