Gettysburg National Military Park Gettysburg, Pennsylvania D66 March 28, 1963 Mr. Payne Williams, Chairman Memorial Committee Claire Towers Columbia, South Carolina Dear Mr. Williams: Study of your proposal for the South Caroling Memorial is going forward in the Washington Office of the National Park Service, and approval of the design should be forthcoming very shortly, we believe. There remains the matter of the entire text for the Memorial, which also must be passed upon and which has not yet been received here. In the interest of expediting the start of construction, we hope that you can send us your text proposal in the next few days. We look forward to seeing your fine contribution to Gettysburg’s monuments proceed to its awaited dedication in July. Sincerely yours, Kittridge A.
