| Description |
English: Surplus Ships - Portsmouth harbour Two type 42 guided missile destroyers awaiting disposal in Portsmouth harbour. The nearer one is HMS Glasgow, not sure about the other one. When I was a lad this area was stuffed with the Reserve Fleet, of mothballed ships. No such thing exists today. As we sailed up the harbour, it was a bit of a shock to see five ships tied up at the Dockyard. However, four of them were American and the fifth was a French Nuclear Submarine. A sad day for the Royal Navy. |
