English: The tartan of the entire modern Royal Regiment of Scotland (1–7 Scots battalions), including bands, for undress uniform, aside from combat-order fatigues; kilts or trews, depending on climate and duties. It is also the tartan of 7 Scots (51st Highland Volunteers) drummers and drum major in dress uniforms. This is as of 2014 [1] and 2019 [2] specifications which have not been superseded as of 2023.

The use of Sutherland district tartan (a lightened form of Black Watch) was inherited from the old Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, though the modern pattern uses a lightened green, while the Victorian-era old regimental pattern used a lightened blue (Balmoral), and the civilian Sutherland district tartan typically uses a lighter blue yet (azure). It appears that the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders used this lightened-green version in the 20th–21st centuries before their 2006 amalgamation into the Royal Regiment of Scotland. There is no evidence of conventionial use of this sett by Clan Sutherland. This image is exactly full-sett, and can tile horizontally and vertically.

Scottish Register of Tartans does not have this sett in their database. I based this off the specs cited above, which include many colour photographs, and the SRT thread count for Sutherland district ("Sutherland #2"). This is an asymmetric, non-mirroring tartan (full count). Thread count (in "..." notation): ...B24 K4 B4 K4 B4 K20 EG24 K6 EG24 K20 B24 K4 B4 K4 B24 K20 EG24 K6 EG24 K20 B4 K4 B4 K4..., were EG = emerald green. (To match the photos better, I slightly colour-adjusted the green to be between Textile32's defaults for emerald green and weathered green; verdant was also fairly close.)
