Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Sutton Bridge, River Thames The Thames is in spate after heavy March rains, and sweeps down the weir stream through Sutton Bridge. The lock cut leads upstream on the right. Sutton Bridge was opened in 1808 and was a toll bridge until 1939 when it was jointly acquired by Berkshire and Oxfordshire County Councils. (I wonder whether Oxfordshire ever paid Berkshire back their half, when they (Oxfordshire) became responsible for both banks in 1974?)
