Description

The platforms and railway station (the red brick building on the right) in Tønsberg, seen from the eastern rim of Castle cliff. The big, ugly building complex in the distance is SiV - Sentralsykehuset i Vestfold (the regional hospital).

This photo was taken on Saturday, November 19, 2011, the day the new tunnel through Frodeåsen and the new double track railway line between Barkåker and Tønsberg officially opened. Which is why the white party tents were erected next to the railway station and the brand new train (which will go into service in 2012) is parked on the platform.
